Campaign Stats and Reports

The second important thing after sending an email campaign is doing an analysis of campaign metrics. It is to know insights and statistics like the number of emails sent and delivered, number of recipients who have engaged with the email, who have shown disinterest, which recipients have unsubscribed from the list? And other such details. Let’s discuss in this article how you do this performance analysis.

 In this Article..

  • How can I view campaign stats?
  • Where can I view the opens and the clicks of my emails?
  • How many of the recipients have unsubscribed from the list?

If you want to see the progress report of a sent campaign, you will click “Statistics” and then “Campaigns” underneath. The resulting page has a table listing all the sent campaigns. In this article, we’ll discuss the columns of the statistics table and the information it provides.

General Campaign Information

Name

The name that you have assigned to the campaign while you were setting it up for sending here will help you identify the campaign you want to see the stats of.

Scheduled by

Name of the user who’ve scheduled this campaign, it is mostly the admin user fetched from the admin user profile information, or the admin can also see the campaigns scheduled/send by other users created through user management.

Start Date & Time

The date and time when the sending process of the campaign was being initiated, displayed under this column.

Total

It is showing the total number of recipients collectively in the selected list(s) for a certain campaign.

Scheduled

Total numbers of recipients qualify for the sending queue is displayed under this column. The system would check the selected list(s) for the duplicate entries and remove them before sending the email.

Sent

How many out of the total recipients in the sending queue system have successfully sent the email? Pausing of the campaign before completing or any other problem that may stop the campaign can affect the total number of emails sent.

Engagement Metrics

Opens

There are three different counters in the rows under this column. Two counters are placed under the braces, the counter before the slash (/) sign indicates the unique opens system has identified for this campaign, while the counter after the slash shows the total number of times recipients have opened the email, irrespective of how many times they have opened the same email, and it even counts the repeated opens. The counter with the percentage sign (%) calculates the open rate for you to evaluate the overall performance of your campaign.

Clicks

Like it was mentioned for the opens, there are again three counters. Unique and total opens within the braces and the overall percentage of click rate is mentioned with the percentage sign.

Created

The column next to opens and clicks again shows general information of the date and time when the campaign was created and saved.

More Detailed Insights

Every row under the last column has a detailed sign, clicking which you’ll be taken to the next detailed page. The resulting page has different tags to show more details of certain metrics. Let’s take every tab one by one in the set sequence.

Summary

A general summary of the sent campaign that includes more details then what appears under the previous page columns. Apart from the earlier discussed information, the summary shows start and also the end time, list(s) recipients of which the email was being sent, email delivery server (sending server), number of emails bounced back and number of recipients decided to hit the spam button.

Opens

The next tab shows more information with regard to the recipients who have opened the email. There is again a table and the columns of the table show the following information.

  • Email- Email address of the recipient who has opened the email
  • List– The list which the recipient belongs to, as, with MailCarry you have got the ability to select multiple lists for one campaign, it is important information to know which list is performing better than others.
  • Sending Server– It shows the name of the sending server/ email services using which the email was being sent to the recipient’s inbox that the recipient has opened.
  • Message-ID– System assigns a unique message ID to every email sent from the system
  • IP Address– It shows the IP address of the openers
  • Geographic Information– Geo specific information of the opener as the country, city and zip code will appear under the next three columns of the table. But make sure, the geo-specific information will only be tracked and displayed when the Geo-Tracking is enabled from the application settings.
  • Date & Time– Date and time when the system stamped the recipient’s action

Clicks

Next to the open tab is the tab that shows the detailed information about the recipients that not only performed the primary engagement action by opening the email but also went on to click the link within the email you’ve sent. The click table is almost similar to what we have learned about the opens table and it shows nearly a similar set of information with regard to the recipient who has clicked the link, apart from the following column.

Link- The link that the recipient has clicked appeared under this column, the rest of the columns show a similar set of information as discussed above for the opens detailed table.

Bounces

If the bounce email/server is rightly configured using the IMAP or POP setup, the system will automatically process the bounce notices from the bounce to address and will flag them within the application. The total number of bounce system has collected for a certain campaign has already been displayed under the “Summary” tab on the detailed page. Under the Bounces tab, you’ll get to know the detailed overview of the bounced emails. The first four and the last columns of the table display a similar set of information as discussed for the opens, which includes email address, list, sending server, message ID and Date & Time of the bounce. However, three of the columns are specific for the bounce table only.

  • Type– It categorizes the bounce according to the type of bounce. There are mainly two types of bounces first one is temporary errors that fall in the soft bounce category, while the others are the permanent errors referred to as hard bounces. MailCarry omits to send to the recipients flagged as hard bounces within the lists.
  • Code– Bonce notices are served with a specific type of information including this code that helps to identify the type of bounce. Different types of bounce codes are assigned to a different type of errors, i.e. 5.2.2 is for Mailbox Full.
  • Detail- It shows the detailed message bounce notice is returned with, i.e. “Address doesn’t Exist” for 5.0.0 hard bounce type.

Spam

Next to the bounce is the tab of spam which shows information of the recipients who decided to hit the email as spam. But this information is only available when you have signed up for the ISPs provided loops and connected the spam inbox via IMAP or POP with MailCarry to read the spam notices and process them within MailCarry. All the columns of this table are providing a similar sort of information with regard to the recipient which you already have learned under the tab of opens and other tabs.

Process Feedback Loops

Logs

The last tab on the detailed page is of the sending logs of a specific campaign. Let’s see how the sending logs are maintained.

  • Email– It is showing the email address of the recipient system has processed and maintained a log of.
